Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides NYC (NYC Carriage Horse Project): Coalition to Ban Horse Drawn Carriages' Response to News Report

Horse-Drawn Carriage Rides NYC (NYC Carriage Horse Project): Coalition to Ban Horse Drawn Carriages' Response to News Report

Although CBS uncovered the truth about the shameful conditions of West Side Livery, they did not even begin to tell the real story about the miserable lives of these horses. They did not allow Elizabeth Forel to make her argument (let alone complete a sentence), yet they let the claims of "industry spokesman" Ian McKeever go unchallenged. For the REAL truth behind this cruel tradition, (not the Disney version), see this trailer on YouTube for a new powerful documentary by Donny Moss: http://youtube.com/watch?v=31GgmMsFzOM

Jill,

Thanks for visiting my blog! How did you find me? I cannot stand the carriage horse situation in NY and many other cities. I went to Charleston this summer and those poor horses--hauling around some VERY LARGE people in 95 degree temps. It is appalling. Kelcey (from the HSUS) and I recently discussed the horses in NYC and I think it is a priority for them to get them out, although I should probably not speak for them. Bloomberg's daughter is a big time rider--why cant we get her behind it? Thanks for making a blog about it--that is awesome!

Hi Annie,

I found your blog from a google alert that I set up.I didn't realize there were carriage horses in Charleston. It must be awful for them! This site actually isn't mine, I just comment on it. It was created by the Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages, an excellent org run by Elizabeth Forel. She's been working on this issue for years. Their website is www.banhdc.org

I wrote a letter to Georgina Bloomberg but she didn't respond. I don't understand why she isn't involved in this. Maybe someone in the equestrian world could reach out to her.

Thanks for getting in touch!

It really annoys me that situations like this happens with horses. I don't care whether CBS want to conceal the truth of those happenings, I just can't believe that in this century that still happens.
